Don took another serving of the food and smiled. "U saved our lives, Brad. If it weren't for u, we would never have caught that gang and locked them up. They'd still be out on the streets endangering other people's lives. Hell, u might be dead had it not been for your sharp expertise and investigating of this case." he said.

Brad looked down at his hands shyly, hiding his nervousness behind a modest shrug. "What was I supposed to do? Not speak up and let you two get killed?"he asked. He looked from Don to Mac with a serious face. "I know what they're capable of. I had to let you guys know; if I hadn't, God only knows what would've become of you two - and others." Mac put a reassuring hand on Brad's arm. "You did well, Brad. The least we can do is thank you for it, and that, right there? What you just said? That's what we look for in good cops. Don and I have already told you that you've got the potential. You have no idea how many times you just proved us right in the past five minutes."

Don nodded in agreement with Mac. "And that's just the kind of people we want on the team. One who has extreme knowledge of a situation and one who isn't afraid to put their lives on the line for others." he said.

Brad looked down at his hands and shrugged. "I just did what I thought was right." Mac nodded and shrugged, "Yeah, but that just easily could be the reason I'm still alive, not to mention others. It's nothing to hide from, Brad. You deserve our thanks, no matter what excuse you use,"he said, lightly elbowing the teen knowingly.

Don looked at Brad and nodded. "Mac's right. U have nothing to be ashamed of, Brad. U saved his life and that's nothing to be ashamed of ok? U did good." he said.

Brad smirked a bit and shoved Mac's arm lightly in response, making the older detective smirk. "Alright, you two! I'm going as red as a tomato if you guys haven't noticed!"

Don stepped outside and placed a call to Chief Sinclaire. "Chief, sorry to bother u in the middle of the night like this, but there's something I'd like to speak to u about when u get the chance." he said.

The next morning, Don immediately went to Sinclaire's office to discuss possibly putting Brad on Mac's team. "Chief, good morning, I wanted to talk to u about something that's been on my kind lately. Umm, Brad, the teenage kid who was falsely accused of murder, he helped us catch the gang that launched an attack on Mac, we could use someone like him in the NYPD. His grades are off the charts, he goes to NYU, and he's very interested in joining the NYPD as a Crime Scene Investigator." he said.

Sinclair nodded, listening with interest. "Can I assume that you're here wondering if I would accept a recommendation for him to join Taylor's team? By saying that, I can also assume that Taylor agrees, and I heard about his custody agreement with Child Services. I think it'd be great to see what he can do on the force."

Sinclair shrugged. "That's mostly up to Taylor seeing as that's his units, but my advice is to let him finish at least this year of his schooling before he tries to join NYPD. I trust Taylor and his team can show him the ropes."

Don nodded, shaking Sinclaire's hand before returning to the hospital. "Thanks for your time, Chief." he said, walking back to the hospital. "Hey Mac, I just got through talking to Sinclaire. He says it's all up to u since it's your unit, but he did suggest Brad finish his last year of schooling before he tries to join up." he said.

Mac nodded. "I agree. No sense in pulling him off his studies when his term finishes so soon anyways. I'll still probably be on mandatory leave by the time we can get him on the unit anyways, so I'll have time to work with him then."
