False Accusations || Don

Mac shrugged and nodded. "It's definitely helped,"he said. "Every day it gets better."

A few minutes later, the nurse walked in to check on Mac. "I see you're feeling better, Detective Taylor, any pain at all?" she asked.

Mac shrugged. "Just a bit yet, but I'm definitely better than I was earlier,"he replied honestly.

The nurse nodded. "I'll have the doctor come in and assess u. He just got out of surgery so as soon as I can flag him down I'll have him come see u." she said.

Mac nodded. "That's fine. Works with me,"he said.

The nurse nodded and smiled. "Alright. I'll be back in a few to check up on u in a few hours or so." she said.

Mac nodded. "Thanks."

Don nodded. "Thanks for your help, nurse." he said.

The nurse nodded. "Not a problem."

Don looked at Brad. "So Brad, tell us a bit about yourself. Where u go to school, what u like to do in your free time, what u wanna be when u grow up, what are your interests?" he asked.

"I think one of my favorite spots to follow would be NASCAR,"Brad responded with a shrug. "Who you like?"Mac asked, looking at Brad beside him. "The Hendricks drivers are pretty good, but I don't care for Kasey Kahne."

Don laughed. "I'm not really big on NASCAR, I'm more of a football guy. I just like the intensity the sport brings. Very fast paced and very unpredictable. And before u ask, I'm a Jets fan." he said.

Brad smirked. "It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt in a crash,"he said, referring to the racing. Mac nodded. "That's when the racing loses a lot of the usual adrenaline,"he said in agreement. Brad had gotten his head in to the whole idea, and Mac had taken a liking to listening to Brad and his rants about the series. The teen seemed to understand everything about the race scene, from points to the function of the stock cars. It never ceased to amaze Mac.

Don laughed. "That reminds me of when u went racing with Stella a few years back, Mac." he said.

Mac smiled at the memory. "That was a lot of fun,"he agreed with a nod. "That's open wheel cars, like the Indy series,"he added, looking back to Brad, who was nodding. "Patrick used to race open wheel in the Indy series, remember?"Brad asked. "Yeah, the only female in the Sprint Cup series now,"Mac responded with a nod. The two suddenly became aware of the fact that Don was still very much with them and they both looked over at the homicide detective, before looking back at each other and wondering who was going to explain first. "She drives in the green Go Daddy car,"Brad said after a moment of stuttering as him and Mac tried to organize their explanation of why they knew so much...which usually wasn't a problem for either of them. "What number is she?"Brad asked, looking over at Mac. The older CSI shook his head with a frown of confusion. "Honestly, I can't remember..."

Don nodded as he was enjoying his conversation with Brad and Mac. "She became one of the favorite NASCAR drivers in the United States. I mean, to drive with the boys is something that I applaud her for. And she surprises a lot of people when she competes." he said.

Mac and Brad both nodded. "I haven't seen much of Martin in the series recently,"Brad pointed out. Mac nodded. "I think Waltrip has taken over that aspect,"he said. Brad nodded thoughtfully. "True, very true." "What ever happened with Stewart? I haven't been checking the series news recently,"Mac brought up. "Oh, about how he was out because of his leg?"Brad asked. Mac nodded. "Yeah,"he confirmed, looking a bit confused as he tried to recall if Stewart had been racing recently.

Don just loved seeing the bond that Mac and Brad were having. All that sports talk really changed the way he felt about Brad. "Yo Brad, I hate to bring this up but I have to get this off my chest. Back at the precinct in the interrogation room, I think I was a bit tough on u. I apologize for being too up front. I also didn't mean to scare u or put any type of pressure on u." he said.

Mac and Brad both looked at Don and Brad was already shaking his head. "No, no. You two don't owe me any apologies for anything, nothing,"Brad said. "You two were just doing your jobs, and, if I may, you both are hell of a force to be reckoned with,"he added, smirking a bit. "I learned that the moment I sat down and you two started. Interrogation 101 don't stand a chance with you two. Have you noticed the styles both of you take?"he asked. Mac looked at him like he was waiting for Brad to explain, and Brad obviously picked up on that. "Well, it's pretty obvious... Don,"he started, looking back to Don, "takes the rather 'no-bullshit' and 'oh yeah, I forgot the part where you mentioned your grandmother helped you do it, didn't she?' kind of style, and I give you credit for such an effective style with a wide variety of suspects, and Mac,"he now looked back to the CSI beside him, who had nodded in agreement, clearly able to picture many a scenario when Flack had aced his interrogation skills, "goes more with the blunt end of the blade. I don't think anyone could get much past you, Mac,"Brad finished with a small smirk. "Both of you take in to account every possible outcome of a case and it makes it amazing to watch you and the team work. I've had a blast learning from the experience."

Don smiled. "U are right, Brad. I am the type that doesn't tolerate bullshit when it comes to interrogation. Since u witnessed my style and Mac's style of interrogation, I have to ask, have u ever thought about becoming cop? U seem like the type that could work in law enforcement. I mean, I know you're still in your teens, but I'm sure I could put in a good word to the boss man over there." he said, nodding over to Mac.

Mac smiled and Brad blinked, rather surprised by this offer. "You two would do that?"he asked. Mac nodded. "Definitely. You've got a hell of a lot of potential,"he said seriously. "You've got what the NYPD needs more of: a good head on your shoulders, but also a heart to think through the logic. Some of us have the common sense, but lack the heart, and others well... lack the common sense and the rest of it all together,"he added with a slight frown. "I've worked in the NYPD for over ten years, and let me tell you something... you never stop needing good people 'cause all the screw ups you see screw you up. I should know,"he said, making both himself and Brad smirk. "How so?"Brad asked, finally laughing. Mac grinned. "Oh hell... I've had more than my fair share of screw ups, trust me. I ain't perfect."

Don smiled. "Brad, what Mac is saying is legit. And it would be a blessing to have someone like u on our team. It's up to u whether u wanna work in the science field or work as an NYPD Homicide Investigator like myself." he said. "And I'm sure I can pull a few arms and legs with my watch commander over at the 12th Precinct."

Brad was grinning by now and Mac smiled. "Why don't I talk to your teachers and see what I can't pull for a future recommendation?"he offered. Brad looked at him with a grin. "That'd be awesome!"

Don grinned from ear to ear. Having Brad on the NYPD team would be awesome. He just had to make sure he could handle all the chaos, from seeing dead bodies and dealing with ridiculous people, suspects, if u will. "I'm sure your teachers would be ecstatic once we talk to them about your possible future working with us." he said.

Brad grinned. "I know my chemistry teacher will be one you definitely want to talk to!"he said. Mac chuckled. "I'll do that. Give me something to do while I'm on Mandatory Medical Leave."
