Mac sighed softly and nodded. "I know. I wish I could be there myself, but I don't feel daring enough to test this leg," he said, sitting down at last to less agitate the injury.

Mac nodded. "I'd like to send Messing a thank you card for kicking me off my feet and marooning me. Really, I hate getting stuck in my apartment like I did when I broke ribs in that fall. That was annoying as hell."

Don chuckled. "Messing? That ought to be his new name. He sure as hell messed us up pretty damn good too. What a sorry mistake for a human being." he said.

Mac managed a tired smile, shaking his head a bit. "Did I really say that?" he asked, finally chuckling a little. "Damn it, I'm too old for this shit," he muttered, shaking his head some more, even though he was smiling. "But that's actually a good point... To hell with him already."

Lindsay, Danny, Lovato, and Stella brought Lessing back to the Precinct and began the interrogation process. "Take a seat, Lessing. We're gonna be here for a while. First off, what the hell? This is the second time u attacked that building while two of our own were inside. How did u know? U killed so many innocent people, nearly killed two cops. Let me just put it this way: You're going away for quite some time for this. That's a given. No jury is gonna dismiss this and say u acted like this based on your condition of having schizophrenia." Danny said.

Stella nodded in agreement. "I also have to mention that the same two cops that you injured in the first attack were injured in this attack. Don't tell us that's coincidence," she pointed out. "I'm sure the names Detective Taylor and Detective Flack are damn familiar to you at this point. They should be. They're the two cops you almost killed. Twice. In the same building, by the same method. That's dedication to a crime in the eyes of all of us here, and the eyes of a jury."

Danny nodded in agreement. "U had to have planned this way ahead of time to know those two same cops were in that building. Maybe u followed them with a camera or something. Or... Or u acted like u were part of the TAC team and were wearing an earpiece, listening to their conversations as to how they would go about entering the building. So just tell us why u did it. Again." he said.

Stella nodded. "Yeah, we'd all love to know," she pointed out. "And I'm sure that if Detective Taylor and Detective Flack could be here right now to grill your sorry ass, they would be. They'd really enjoy themselves, I'm sure. But no. Instead, they're hospitalized right now because of what you did. That keeps them from their jobs, and if there is anyone you don't want to keep from their job, I'll tell you right now, Detective Taylor is about the best example you can get this side of the equator. So start talking, because I can't wait to tell him and Detective Flack your reasoning. I really can't."

Lessing smiled as he looked at Danny and Stella. "I was trying to prove a point. U know, get my voice heard. Express my disbelief for.....for the way they go about their jobs. I know they're science guys, well one of 'em is at least, that's Detective Taylor. I simply wanted them to know that my demonstration was exactly like the war Taylor served in when he was in Beirut. And out of all the cops that I could've picked for this demonstration, I knew Mac and Detective Flack would accept the offer." he said.

She really wanted to lunge across the room and strangle the sorry son of a botch, but Stella restrained herself. "Offer?" she questioned, "What part of all of this was an offer?"

Lessing looked at Stella. "What part? All of it, Detective. U saw how fast they got those people out of the building, didn't u? Why do u think they stayed inside? They simply wanted to be a part of the demonstration. He wouldn't have answered my calls if he didn't want any part of it." he said.

Stella scoffed, disgusted. "Allow me to enlighten you," she snapped, "Detective Taylor and Detective Flack stayed in there because it was their job to make sure people were safe. And I will tell you, they are both very, very good at their jobs. They didn't do it for you, Lessing. And the reason you're here? Because you tried to take out a bunch of innocent people. Do you know why we do this job? It's not for the criminals. It's not even for the long shot chance of being called a hero. That means very little to us, actually. We do it for the innocent people in this city, the victims, and the friends, family, and coworkers of the victims. I assure you, all of us on this team would tell you the same damn thing that I just told you. So you remember that when you're serving your time, and think of the people you hurt. Remember them. I want you to remember what you did, and for all I care, the Devil can make guilt eat you alive. I'd actually enjoy that, I believe. Bit knowing you, it won't happen. But I can still say it."

Danny nodded in agreement with Stella. "She's right, Lessing. It's fools like u that make our job so much more fun. Knowing that we got the criminals off the streets makes it a bit easier on us, to those families of the victims that'll never ever see them again. I want u to think long and hard about what u did when u set off that bomb. While you're sitting in your jail cell, eating scum off the floor, or....or sleeping at night, I want u to hear Detective Taylor's voice in your head, screaming "I told u so." he said.

Stella had to smile at Danny's last remark. "I think he'd enjoy that," she said with a bit of a nod. "I dare say he'd get a damn good kick out of that."

Stella slipped out side, calling Mac to let him know the news. "Stella, what's the latest?" Mac asked as he answered the call.

Stella took a deep breath. "We arrested Lessing and u won't believe his reasoning for doing what he did. He said he did it because he knew u and Don would respond to the demonstration. He's so full of it, Mac, he said that's the reason why u replied to his phone calls. He said u two stayed behind because u wanted to be part of the whole ordeal but we all know u we're doing your job rescuing those people from the building." she explained.

Mac sighed and shook his head. "He would do something like that, Stella... He would... But the important part is that we have him and he'll be doing time for what he's done," he said. "We've done our job and we've done it right. That's what matters at the end of the day."

"I'll let him tell you, but he's looking a lot better than when this first went down," Mac said, going over to Don and making sure he was careful of his leg as he offered Don his phone. "Stell's on the line. I figured you'd want to talk to her," he said with a slight smile.

Don didn't hesitate to take the phone from Mac. "You're right, I do." he said with a smile. "Hey Stella, I'm doing a lot better thanks to the great doctors here. I was thinking of extending my stay here." he said jokingly.

Stella laughed. "You like it that much, do you? Well, I have news to pass, since Mac left me the honor of telling you, so thanks to him. Anyways, we got Lessing, and you won't believe what he said in his confession."
